Artist Statement
My studio practice uses drawing, painting and mixed media to explore memory, emotional responses, and psychological states of being. Film and photography, and a fascination with luminosity and shadows also play into my work.
The common thread in my work is that it seeks to evoke a feeling, or a sense of time and place, and to transport the viewer to another world - my inner world. Developing my artistic voice is a never-ending journey for me, and may lead me to vulnerable places at times. My abstract painting process begins with intuitive mark-making, and sweeps or washes of color that subsequent layers can interact with. My exploration sometimes ventures into 3-dimensional pieces and film.
